Requirements

• Knowledge in internet service architectures (such as load balancing, LAMP, CDN’s)
• Experience in configuring and maintaining applications like Apache, Memcached, Squid, MySQL, NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, and SNMP
• Experience learning software, frameworks, and APIs
• Experience learning development languages like PHP, Python, C++, and Java
• 7+ years of coding experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of experience in UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals
• Experience performing 'guerilla capacity planning' for internet service architectures

Nice to Haves

• BS or MS in Computer Science
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

What You'll Be Doing

• Own back-end services like our Hadoop data warehouses, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, infrastructure components like our Memcache infrastructure, and everything in between
• Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the hardest problems, live, on some of the largest and most complex systems in the world
• Share an on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for service incidents
• Work alongside top engineers on projects used by millions worldwide
