Requirements

• 5+ years of managing software engineering teams with an extensive background in software development
• Hands-on, daily use of coding harnesses (e.g. Claude Code, Codex) and LLM-based tooling
• Ability to turn fast-moving, ambiguous technology into a clear roadmap and make prioritization calls with incomplete information
• Strong communication and influence skills at director and executive levels, including with non-engineering functions
• Proven track record of delivering internal platforms or developer tooling with measurable adoption
• Solid technical foundation in building and operating distributed systems or SaaS products
• Experience leading distributed teams across multiple countries and time zones

Nice to Haves

• Experience building or operating MCP servers, agent frameworks, or plugin ecosystems
• Experience with LLM cost management, usage analytics, or FinOps for AI spend
• Experience building evaluations or quality measurement for LLM-based systems
• Experience with enterprise integrations such as Slack, Google Workspace, Atlassian, or Salesforce
• Experience running enablement or change management programs for technical tooling

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading and growing a distributed engineering team across Ireland and India with an effective operating rhythm across time zones
• Setting the strategy and roadmap for Toast's internal agent ecosystem including developer tooling and agents used in SDLC processes
• Owning delivery of internal agent platform components from design through production, including integrations with Toast systems and data
• Driving adoption across R&D and the broader company by collaborating with product managers on customer research
• Establishing guardrails for agent usage related to security, legal, and finance, including access controls and AI spend visibility
• Defining and reporting key team metrics such as adoption, time saved, quality, and cost per outcome to leadership
• Staying hands-on with the latest agent development practices to guide technical decisions and model team workflows
• Championing AI tools and practices to accelerate development, improve velocity, and pioneer AI-first engineering methodologies
