What you'll be doing

• Design and build public-facing APIs for Wise Platform and partners that are intuitive, consistent, and easy to use
• Own and drive technical roadmaps across your domain, addressing technical debt, reliability, scalability, and security concerns aligned with the product roadmap
• Architect highly robust and scalable microservices using event-driven design patterns
• Act as a key influencer in product roadmapping and strategy sessions with product management and your cross-functional team
• Lead impactful problems within your team and beyond, driving cross-team initiatives that unlock new features and value for partners
• Mentor and influence engineers and leads through code reviews and best practices to raise the bar for technical excellence

Requirements

• Strong foundation in modern Java or other JVM-based languages, experience with the Spring framework, and commitment to clean, testable, performant code
• Deep experience building and operating microservices with understanding of event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and concurrency patterns
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems, including designing and owning robust, scalable event pipelines
• Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimization, schema design, and data lifecycle management for sensitive information
• Product-oriented mindset prioritizing customer needs and using data-driven decisions to shape roadmaps and resolve partner problems
• Experience leading cross-team and interdisciplinary initiatives with passion for clean, well-tested, performant code
• Great communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and guide debates to clear decisions
