What you'll be doing

Own solutions from problem to production by collaborating with product managers and engineers to understand needs, design, build, test, and operate backend services.
Make thoughtful technical decisions by explaining tradeoffs and balancing delivery time, reliability, and maintainability even with incomplete information.
Build across system boundaries by working with other teams to agree on interfaces and understand impacts on the wider payment journey.
Improve the systems you operate by strengthening testing and observability, diagnosing production issues, and making services more dependable.
Help the team succeed by contributing across workstreams, sharing domain knowledge, and mentoring other engineers through reviews and pairing.

Requirements

Hands-on experience building or significantly contributing to large-scale distributed systems.
Strong backend engineering skills, including relational databases, event-driven systems, and proficiency in an object-oriented programming language.
A product mindset to explain customer problems, the importance of solutions, and how to assess their effectiveness.
Ability to take ownership with high autonomy, navigate ambiguity, and involve others when needed.
Strong collaboration and communication skills to explain technical decisions, work across teams, and support colleagues' success.
Curiosity about the business domain and a willingness to learn how partners use built products.

Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, or PostgreSQL.
Background in payments, financial technology, funding, settlement, or foreign exchange.
Using product metrics and data to understand customer behavior and guide decisions.
