What You'll Be Doing

• Lead and coach engineers, manage hiring, mentoring, and performance to enhance technical capability and delivery.
• Translate product strategy into technical roadmaps that improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Guide architecture and technical design decisions focusing on building scalable global systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support bank integrations and expand the payment network.
• Promote engineering excellence through code reviews, mentoring, and adoption of best practices.
• Maintain a hands-on approach to deeply understand and contribute to team systems when needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve the Send product, balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical health.
• Oversee the broader Wise Platform squad, share learnings, and influence company-wide software development.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams and developing senior individual contributors.
• Strong technical leadership and system design expertise in scalable, distributed systems, event-based architectures, and microservices.
• Product mindset focused on customer impact beyond technical implementation.
• Leadership style centered on empowerment, providing context, trust, and clear direction.
• Advocacy and adherence to best coding practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews.
• Clear communication of technical concepts across teams and stakeholders.
• Bias to action and comfort with ambiguity, able to operate quickly while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Experience with JVM platform technologies such as Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
