What you'll be doing

Owning and evolving a complex Java backend system, handling technical decisions, development, testing, and deployment.
Solving distributed-systems challenges including concurrency, service-to-service communication, data consistency, and reliability.
Improving tools used by Customer Support agents to enhance issue resolution and customer experience.
Driving technical improvements and managing tech debt by balancing new features, maintenance, and long-term system health.
Partnering closely with Product Managers and operational stakeholders to understand problems, influence priorities, and shape the team’s roadmap.
Contributing to the user experience by working with React to improve agent interfaces and workflows.
Taking end-to-end ownership of engineering initiatives from identification to production delivery.

Requirements

Strong hands-on Java experience building and maintaining complex backend systems in production.
Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous communication, including Kafka and service-to-service integrations.
Solid understanding of concurrency and parallel processing concepts such as thread safety, distributed locking, and eventual consistency.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical problems from approach to delivery.
Strong product mindset to understand user needs and make engineering decisions based on customer impact.
Pragmatic approach balancing technical debt, maintenance, and feature development for both short-term delivery and long-term system quality.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with Product Managers, operational teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
Willingness to work across the stack, particularly with React, even without being a frontend specialist.
