Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Strong software engineering foundation with ownership of systems end-to-end
• Proficient in Python and/or TypeScript
• Familiarity with tools like Spark, Kafka, Flink, data warehouses, and SQL
• Experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines or search/retrieval systems
• Prior experience working on engineering for high-severity harms
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and open-ended problem spaces with evolving goals

Nice to Haves

• Energized by working at the frontier of AI capabilities and integrating new models and APIs
• Product-minded approach with focus on user workflows and quick iteration based on feedback
• Favor pragmatic solutions and ability to ship in hacky, low-support environments when needed
• Intuition for pain points and workflows of operations and investigative teams
• Curiosity about solving complex investigations
• Bonus: Prior knowledge of child-safety-specific challenges such as secure handling of quarantined content and reporting to NCMEC

What You'll Be Doing

• Prototype, build, and maintain intelligence systems that detect, triage, and enable human review of possible high severity harm
• Work hand in hand with operators and investigators to design and deliver systems that improve speed, accuracy, and safety
• Develop across the stack: UIs, services, pipelines, and other necessary components
• Collaborate with partners across Product Policy, Platform Integrity, Safety Systems, and Research
• Contribute to the team’s technical strategy, especially for child safety related tools and systems
• Report on impact using data-driven approaches
