What You'll Be Doing

• Lead and coach engineers, manage hiring, mentoring, and performance to enhance technical capability and delivery impact.
• Translate product strategy into technical roadmaps that drive key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Guide architecture and technical design decisions to ensure scalable global systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support bank integrations and expand the payment network.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, mentoring, and adoption of best practices.
• Maintain hands-on involvement to deeply understand and contribute to team systems when needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve the Send product, balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical health.
• Oversee broader Wise Platform squad activities, share learnings, and shape company-wide software development practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams and developing senior individual contributors.
• Technical leadership and system design expertise, including strong knowledge of scalable distributed systems, event-based architectures, and microservices.
• Product mindset focused on customer impact beyond technical implementation.
• Leadership style based on empowerment, providing context, trust, and clear direction.
• Advocacy for best coding practices, continuous delivery, and thorough code reviews.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts across teams and stakeholders.
• Bias for action and comfort with ambiguity, balancing speed with quality and compliance.
• Experience with JVM platform technologies such as Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
