What you'll be doing

• Building and refining critical controls to prevent Wise customers from scams.
• Driving backend (80%) and frontend (20%) development for scam prevention and detection systems.
• Delivering tangible impact by securing customers' money, raising automation levels, and helping engineer a world-class money transfer product.

Requirements

• Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages, including the Spring framework.
• Experience building and designing scalable web applications that handle large amounts of traffic, ideally using React-based frontend applications, JavaScript / TypeScript.
• Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, distributed, and concurrent systems.
• Strong product mindset, accountability, and ability to drive projects independently with data-driven decisions focused on the customer.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimisation and designing resilient schemas.
• Exceptional coding fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and commitment to Test Driven Development and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts across teams (Product, Data Science, Investigations).

Nice to haves

• Familiarity with the machine learning lifecycle, including data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems into production.
