What You'll Be Doing

• Lead and coach engineers, manage hiring, mentoring, and performance to enhance technical capabilities and delivery impact.
• Translate product strategy into technical roadmaps that drive key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Guide architecture and technical design decisions to build scalable global systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support bank integrations and expand payment networks.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, mentoring, and adoption of best practices.
• Deeply understand and contribute hands-on to team systems when needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve the Send product, balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical health.
• Maintain an overview of the broader Wise Platform squad, sharing learnings and shaping company-wide software development.

• Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams and growing senior engineers.
• Strong technical leadership and system design expertise in scalable, distributed systems, event-based architectures, and microservices.
• Product mindset focused on customer impact beyond technical implementation.
• Leadership style centered on empowerment through context, trust, and clear direction.
• Advocacy and adherence to best coding practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews.
• Clear communication of technical concepts across teams and stakeholders.
• Bias to action and comfort with ambiguity, able to move quickly while maintaining quality and compliance.
• Experience with JVM platform technologies such as Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
