Requirements:

• Significant experience designing, building, or operating distributed databases or production infrastructure at scale.
• Deep expertise in Vitess or a comparable sharded SQL system, MySQL server internals, or MyRocks/RocksDB storage engine.
• Strong software engineering skills in Go and/or C++.
• Experience debugging complex behavior in large systems.
• Ability to make high-risk infrastructure changes safely.
• Clear technical judgment and communication skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline.

Nice to Haves:

• Accepted upstream contributions to relevant projects.
• Experience operating database fleets at thousands-of-shards scale.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Design and implement capabilities for a 10,000+ shard Vitess/MySQL/MyRocks fleet.
• Work in Go, C++, and Python for automation, testing, and analysis.
• Improve various aspects of query serving, replication, failover, upgrades, and more.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues across multiple layers of the system.
• Build operational intelligence tools and participate in on-call rotation.
• Lead technical designs, mentor engineers, and contribute to open-source projects.
